Lydia

In exactly four hours, my baby will be one week old.

I have thought so many times over the past week of what I could possibly say to describe this experience. The facts? The feelings? The emotions? The joys? The struggles?

And it all boils down to this: I don't have the words to describe it.

So for now, I'll simply let Charles Dickens do the talking and I'll leave you with a few pictures.

"It is not a slight thing when they, who are so fresh from God, love us."

Lydia Lorene
Born 1/27

We love you, Lydee Bug.

What a precious, beautiful baby. I am so happy for you and Brian. I have been so excited to hear an update! I love her name too. Had she been born just a few hours later we would have shared a birthday! I am sure you are so glad she came when she did and not a second later! Yay!!!

I don't think there are words ever used in any language on earth to adequately describe the miracle of birth.

Lydia is beautiful. Enjoy her newness!

Thanks for a good cry :) She is a beautiful little girl and looks like she's adjusting well! Expect quite a few questions from me as I near the end... but your post made me calm down and remember that after all the stress and anxiety, I get to bring my baby home. Thanks Abs!

I am so happy for you guys and I can't wait to hear about the whole experience. It truly is a beautiful thing which Charles Dickens does sum up quite well.

I love her! Isn't it amazing there really aren't words. She's beautiful, like her mother. I can't wait to hear all about it all but until then enjoy that baby. It goes so fast. Cliche' but sadly so true.

I found you! I loved to see that Dad made it there. He's a cute grandpa. Love the nickname.
Was it a love at first sight that blew you away? Thanks for taking me back to when my first baby gazed into my eyes. That was powerful!
You will cherish those moments forever. Lov, Meg

Oh she's beautiful! I'm so happy for you and Brian, many CONGRATS to you both!!

You're so right, words just cannot describe the experience. Although, a good friend told me I would have a certain giddyness--like falling in love in the springtime--and I thought back to that a lot in those first few weeks. That, and a family member pointed out how you love them so much you could just watch them all day, even when they're sleeping, and that even as they get older you still can hardly take your eyes off of them... and it's so true! So new parents, happy watching! :)
