DIY: Bedroom Makeover

As I previously mentioned, my husband was mostly out of town for the entire month of October. Out of the infinite goodness of his heart, he flew my mom up from Utah to hang with me for the last two weeks. It was wonderful.

That mom of mine, she's a go getter. When she first got here, I mentioned to her that I was thinking of painting my bedroom. The next thing I knew, I had a total bedroom makeover in the works. And what made it even cooler, was that we hunted for bargains and redecorated on a dime!

One Gallon of Paint (in Grandeur Gray): $23.47
Three picture frames for prints I had bought years ago and had never gotten around to framing: $24.00 (on sale at Michael's)
Two bedside tables from Target: $20.00 (Secret: they are really T.V. Trays, but they're solid wood, and they look great.)
One Live Palm from Ikea: $12.00
Two Lamps from Ikea:$24.00
Bed Lifters from Ross: $6.00

If I'm not mistaken, that adds up to $109.47. $109.47 to take my bedroom from this (please note the microscopic lamps, and the old, TINY GREEN bedside tables. Hello)...
To this...
My side...

Brian's side...Thanks to the help and inspiration of my mom, my room is now Rockin'.

Brian loved it, too, which is even better. Here he is, seeing it for the first time.

And here's my smokin' hot mom, and the teensy weensy paintbrush and one gallon of paint she used to paint the entire room (her choice people, she says it saves paint to do it with a brush and not a roller, and since she did the whole room with one gallon, I'm going to go ahead and agree with her). Thanks, mom. I miss you already.

I LOVE IT! It came a long way since last I saw it. Can your mom come to my house next and help me make some decorating decisions?

Well done, Abby! It really looks fabulous! I'm so impressed with the grey, I would be scared to death to try such a dark/bold color, but it looks really great. Way to be bold!

Awesome! And the fact that you were able to spend $110 on it all, wow! It looks like you are going for a modern twist on a western theme bedroom. I like it! Your mom is great! I don't know what my mom and I would do to the house in two weeks...maybe I should get her up here.

Your bedroom looks awesome! I can't wait until I live in a place that I could paint if I felt so inclined. And when that time comes, I would love to have you and your mom and Kim all help!

Thanks guys! I know, the grey thing is a little crazy, but I've been seeing it in a lot of magazines lately and I love it. I told my mom I wanted a grey color with purple and brown in it (if that even exists) and this is what we found. In certain lights, it looks more purple and in others it looks more grey, but the brown tones in it keep it very rich looking and masculine at the same time.
Anyway, thanks for the input, guys!
