i do not blame you for not wanting him to leave! sounds like you have a lot of people willing to come help if he ends up having to leave...me included :o)
I must confess, that is exactly how the conversation played out. I should have said, "If you don't feel comfortable the week before I have to go, I won't go." Can I get some support though for a guy who has to bring home the bacon for his wife and itty bitty one? Baby will be about a month old by then, hopefully the routine will be established. Who knows, maybe Abs will WANT me out of the house... Moms out there: how old were your babies the first time your husbands left for a business trip?
My husband, the truck driver, was so lucky to be there for the birth of our 4 babes. But he had to get back to work and I was alone with mine a lot. I'm not saying its right. I'm just saying we are strong and can handle it. Poor Brian has to leave his brand new baby and love of his life! Try to enjoy the time alone with your little one. And don't be too hard on Brian. (I've been hard on Matt for things like this and it only makes thing ugly). Love and luck to you.
Just tell Brian that he can go as long as it is to Nebraska instead of Vegas. No one wants to go to Nebraska in February (-10°F plus wind-chill), this will help him choose to stay home.
Meg, A friend at church read this blog and came up to me on Sunday to say that her husband had to go out of town when her first baby was just a week old. She said that she was just fine, and this made me feel better. I think it's just that I don't KNOW what it will be like at this point, and that's what makes me nervous. When it comes to that time though, I might be okay with it.
Abby, you are going to be an incredible Mom. You will laugh at yourself someday when you look back on all the worrying you do now. Newborns sleep so much. you might be bored without Brian as you stare at her all day and anxiously await the next diaper change. You will be fine. You can blog and call others. And enjoy the time. How long will he be gone?

That's good; you've got to talk things out like that.
:) Don't worry. That always means no.
I won't allow it! Tell Brian I would have murdered Caleb. MUR-DERED. I honestly would not have been able to handle it.
See how that goes. :)
I will come and get you, and take you home when Brian gets home. How is that for a fly in the butter?
But dad, I will have a weeks old, itty bitty, baby!
communication....the key to a successful marriage :)
Soooooo?
Abby, I'll come stay with you and your itty bitty baby :)

All I'm sayin' Brian, is you won't WANT to go. And what if she's late?!
Nope, nope. Just wouldn't be prudent. :)
Caleb didn't leave me, I think I left him first, when Wy was...4 months old. And HE hated every second of it.

Meg,
Bri and I read your comment together and after he was done reading it Brian said, "I love her."
He will be gone for 3 days.
Thanks for the encouragement.
