Reality Check

Blogs can be about as accurate a depiction of life as reality television is. Which is to say, not very.

Admit it, you like to put nice pictures of yourself, your family, your goings on on your blog. I do too. But sometimes, when the going gets tough, all your (and my) perfection is a little overwhelming.

If my future children were to read this blog as it is now they would know it wasn't the WHOLE story of their mom. They would know that sometimes I didn't get out of my pajamas until 3 in the afternoon. That the cat stunk. That sometimes mom forgot about the load in the washer and let it sit there for a week.

So I'm going to start telling the whole story. Well, I'm going to try to, anyway. And this will be my first attempt. Maybe it will make you feel better about yourself. Maybe it will make you feel worse about me. Either way, I'm only being honest.

On any given day, there is a nice fine layer of dog hair on my floors. I try to sweep and vacuum every 24 hours. But sometimes I just don't want to. Sometimes I'm too tired, too hungry, too lazy. And that's okay. It's only that, when I do take a day off from the floors, hair karma comes back for its revenge. Really. You could name the globs of hair that come off this floor of mine.

And to show you just what caliber of hairball I'm dealing with here, I took a picture. This one I named Hannibal. Hannibal the two day old hairball.
Every day I wonder how the dog has any fur left. I think it's a miracle.
You non petty people out there are probably wondering why I allow the loathsome creature in my house at all.

Well, it's because she looks like this.
Wanna come for a visit?

Hi. You know I love you. And you know I've developed into a non-dog person. (Again, you can blame the mutt) That hairball gives my OCD hives.

But guess what? I'd come up there in a heartbeat. :)

Speaking of which...I need to discuss an edumacation graduation visit. From moi. To...toi....and such.

This post did not make me think any less of you Abby. It did however make me feel better about the dust bunnies that like to accumulate on my floor (I'm lucky if I sweep once a week let alone every day).

So funny thing. When I saw the little picture of the hair ball on Chris' blog I thought it was a big ocean wave. To find out it was a hair ball was so sad. I love the blog though.

Abby, it's funny that you wrote this blog. It's been a rough few weeks here at the Kilpack casa and I was laying in bed thinking of how I only blog about the "fun" stuff in our lives and how maybe I should blog about the not so fun stuff too. Your blog hit home...though I haven't blogged about the not so fun stuff yet, you have inspired me to do so. Keep it up sister, I love reading your blog!!!

Abby, I have to say that the hairball is absolutely disgusting! But I have to say I love Cookie. She is such a cute doggy and fun to play with. I will come visit you again any day!

I'm lovin' the real Abs. I must say though, that is quite the accumulation of hair. Case in point as to why we bought a nice meaty, hairy dog that is just fine living outside. I can't do the dog hair. However no judgments being cast over here. The problem at our house, my hair!
